I'm a male. I started playing male characters but after the male mesmer I switched to playing all females. And the male monk's robes are too form fitting.
Out of the males only the warrior and the ranger don't look gay. Now if you're going for gay that's fine. |

Male/Female?
I am a Male, age 62, and a 30 year veteran of America's Military forces. I am Heterosexual, married to the same woman for 42 years. I am, in no way, Homophobic, either!
I have 2 Male Characters: Monk/Warrior and Necromancer/Mesmer. If I build any more, they are certain to be female, because like the guy before me, I'd rather look at a pretty little females' derriere than a guy's butt any day. Nuff said. |

I am a male, my 4 friends who play are also all males. My GF plays one toon on my account. My GF's toon is female. My toon, and my 4 friends toons are ALL females.
WHY?: Because of a theory I developed a long time ago; if I am going to spend 100's of hours staring at the postierior of something, its NOT going to be a mans ass. |

I am a male. I pick the gender of my charries in lots of RPGs, from D&D to Star Wars to Guild Wars, by the role they play and their stats. Although it's not set in stone, I follow this personal guideline:
Male: high Str, Con, or Wis; melee fighter; healers/protectors; dwarves and orcs [sorry, female just doesn't cut it for me with those]; Female: high Dex, Int, or Cha; ranged fighter; offensive casters; chars that depend on guile [ie Assassins and Bards] I also make a male in every RPG I play named Slade Carter [normally some melee class]. As of now, I have Slade Carter, Male Me/W [best-looking guy avatar] 8P Angelic Favor, Male E/Mo [best dance evar11] Lucrecia Nailo, Female N/R [I made her a drow. Plus, the male has horrible posture] PvP Char Last edited by Slade xTekno; May 24, 2005 at 03:55 AM // 03:55.. |

The game that got me started playing females was CoH, good lord. Then I moved to WoW and had to play to horde and was surprised that a game company wasn't making all the females hot. Very surprising.

I'm female and play a female character.
I think if you see a female character in the game, 70-90% of the time it will be a guy. The rest of the time it is a real female. :P |

Male - with a male character. I may build a female character at some point, but as there appears to be no game difference, I don't feel under any obligation to do so.

I'm female, and my two main are female. I've tried playing male chars when they look better, but the discussion certain groups tend to get into when it's all 'character' male remind me too much of the Army. I'm not offended or anything, but I'd prefer to skip some types of chit chat.
Don't care what other folks play, but it is interesting to ponder. Most of the time I honestly can't tell what a players 'real' gender is. I like that; makes the world more interesting. Also, looking at the people who replied, and seeing how many of my female friends play, I'd be willing to bet that there are a lot more 'real' female players than most people think. Not that it really matters, but again, it is interesting. Last edited by Steel Circle; May 24, 2005 at 09:10 AM // 09:10.. |

Anyway, I'm a male and have one character, a Male Warrior, mainly because last I checked there weren't very many female warriors, ever. Also the female warrior appears weak to me, when I play with a female warrior on my team I tend to not think, hey look another tank, I think, hey look another little caster, then i find out its a warrior. |

I'm a male that plays males. But what do you do if a female character hits on your male character only to discover the player behind the female character is male?
(I've had hour long flirtatious conversations with these kind of characters only to have them 'come out' that they're male). I think you're correct in assuming that many female characters are controlled by males. This has put me right off the notion of online ingame romances. |
